Seelampur sits on the eastern bank of the Yamuna, in the wedge of dense, older colonies that make up North East Delhi, with the river on one side and the Shahdara belt spreading east behind it.

The river defines it. Seelampur lies just across the Yamuna from old Delhi, an early stop as the Red Line climbs out of the historic centre and onto the crowded east bank.
